WE ALL KNOW THE LIMITATIONS OF THE INDIAN GENERATOR DRIVE SYSTEM. THE HEAVY INERTIA ON ACCELRATION AND DECELERATION STRETCHES INDIVIDUAL LINKS OF THE 1/4 ASA DRIVE CHAIN AND THAT COUPLED WITH THE SHORT CHAIN AND A SMALL ADJUSTMENT WINDOW AVAILABLE MAKES THIS PART OF THESE BIKES A BIT OF A MAINTENANCE ISSUE.
Crazyhorse Indian has addressed this issue. We built a new Alternator using the latest permanent magnet Alternator technology. Only 2 moving parts ie the bearings. 14v 14A output at running speed. An external mounted solid state rectifier regulator takes care of the output from the Alternator which is mounted on a sturdy metal bracket external to the Alternator case for maximum cooling.
The drive system has been completely revised. The drive is by oil resistant toothed belt. Both drive and driven pulleys are steel with upstands to keep your belt tracking straight. The driver pulley is a genuine Indian primary pulley modified with a tooth belt pulley instead of the sprocket teeth. A new more substantial inner chaincase is provided for best resistance against flex and a new linear adjuster with sealed bearing is provided to adjust the tooth belt. Pulleys and belts are all of German manufacture.
