In 1940 Indian motocycles revealed a large number of new features. Plunger rear suspension on chiefs but most importantly one of the most iconic styling features ever revealed on a motorcycle. The valanced mudguard. The valanced fender became synonomous with Indian motorcycle. The New mudguard was unveiled on all models. The Chief, the mighty Four cylinder and the Sports Scout. But what to do with Indians entry level 500cc Junior Scout. It was decided ( i think) to offer this valanced guard on only the first production batch of Junior Scouts and to this day i have only physically seen one other with the valanced mudguard.
This 1940 Junior Scout is such a machine. Extremely rare 500cc lighweight v twin with a 3 speed gearbox finished in classic red with silver warbonnet and period pinstripe.
